Exciting news everyone: NewEdo is (finally) getting VTT support! 

In a delightful bit of serendipity, we've negotiated access to some amazing digital maps at the same time that a from-scratch custom NewEdo Foundry module is nearing fruition. 

Cartography artist Nebula Maps (whose Patreon you can find here) has agreed to license a limited number of their maps for open and free personal use by the NewEdo community. I've created a dropbox with five diverse maps (including animated, gridded, and grid-less versions) which you can access from the #NewEdo-Resources and #VTT-Support channels on our Discord. Come on over and have a look, and if you like these maps, consider supporting Nebula through their Patreon to get access to the rest of their impressive inventory! We'll be adding additional community use maps over the coming weeks as well, so if you haven't yet joined our Discord, now is the time!

Aaaaand it looks like we're a few weeks away from a fully customized and functional Foundry module to play in. Discord user Dragonkie (give them a wave and thanks if you're in the channel!) has gone to extensive efforts to create functioning, programmed character sheets and a NewEdo rules module to support the back end. They're in the process of cleaning up the UI and adding in details like item stats etc. I've also given Dragonkie permission to import NewEdo's mobs, Rotes, Augs, Skills, etc. directly into the module, so there'll be nothing between you and some digital good times once it's complete. There's probably lots of work to be done, so anyone with Foundry technical skill is encouraged to pop by and offer to help out. I'm dumber than dirt when it comes to this stuff so I'm just here for moral support! Yay! haha

As far as roll20 or other VTT options go, if you're capable of working on the back end, I will step up and find or buy us assets for the front end. Drop me a line if you're interested in helping build these community tools!

In astonishing and unrelated news, someone gave up their Founders' Edition pledge yesterday, freeing up a copy of that quickly-sold-out print run. Of course another lucky backer grabbed it up within a few hours so we're back to being sold out. If for any reason these become available in the future and I have time to announce it, I will let you all know here that there are copies available.

It's Been Too Quiet...

Good morning everyone!  I hope those celebrating in the States have had a lovely holiday weekend with family and games :D

We got off to a wild start here but things have calmed down quickly eh? That's fine, we're funded and there will be beautiful art for the 77 Stories. I haven't given up, and continue to promote this campaign every chance I get. That includes the interview I posted last week, as well as another interview recorded and ready to post on Scheduled for Launch (I'll send it out when it's up!), mention in a number of small newsletters, and a million media pings ... that are not *quite yet showing results haha ... and a lot of good vibes from the community, in support. 

If you have a favourite podcast or newsletter that you think might be interested in NewEdo or the 77 Stories, please feel free to direct me there! 

For now, I thought I'd share an entry from the NPC section, showing fresh art by new-to-NewEdo artist William Liberto. This also includes an example of an NPC statblock. Gorou is the OC of an original NewEdo playtester way back in the day, and though he's gone through some changes over the years, it's awesome to be able to give him some screen time here! Like all the NPCs in the 77 Stories, Gorou fits easily into at least one story, while his plot cues can be connected to another half dozen at least. Or you can just use him as a bruiser, your choice!

In other awesome news, I've arranged an agreement with an incredible cartographer who will be providing maps for not only the 77 Stories and Heroes of Hyuga, but for the whole community to use in their VTT adventures! That's right, we're going digital, kinda, finally! Some enthusiastic members of the Discord are working on a Foundry character sheet, which may slowly drag me into the 21st century. I'm fully supportive of providing assets for the community to use, and if you have thoughts on that, please come join the Discord and speak up in the VTT Support channel. 

So, if you're up for it, drop a note or post about the 77 Stories on your favourite social media vector, and I will continue to hustle for this expansion and this game world. Thanks so much to you all for being part of this unbelievably positive community.

Stretch goals, podcasts, PDF delivery - lots of good news!

Stretch Goals

Weeelllll I'm writing this and the campaign is at $4,981 so I hope I don't jinx us, but it looks like we'll be hitting that stat block stretch goal - woohoo! A sample stat block will come in the next update (because I already owe you a sample story - see below), but not only do these blocks include NewEdo system specific stats, they also include descriptive tags that will help non-NewEdo Storytellers integrate the NPCs into their games. Tags like "weak combat", "ranged fighter", "stealthy thief", "imposing presence", etc. should help bridge the gap between NewEdo's delicious crunch and other games' mechanics.

In other news, the charmers over at Roleplaying as Smart People were kind enough to bring me on last week to discuss the 77 Stories in NewEdo and why this book exists. If you're interested in hearing me blather on and swear for 45 minutes, this might just be for you! Click below to be taken to the episode. 

PDFs

Backers who have chosen a reward or add on that includes the core NewEdo rulebook will not have to wait until next year to get those PDFs. As soon as this campaign closes, I will send out the DTRPG download links for everyone who ordered the core NewEdo PDF. 

Sample Story from the 77

Here's a snip from the book. All of the purple highlighted sections are live internal hyperlinks that will either take you to a detailed discussion of the item (like a separate entry for the Nogura Onsen) or a glossary that explains how the entry fits into the world of NewEdo. There is also a whole table that explains the relatively difficulties of NewEdo Target Numbers ("TN"), how to use them in this game, and how to translate them into other games. These are supposed to be engaging adventure hooks, but also provide a foundation for rich worldbuilding at your table!

What a morning!

Wow folks, what an amazing showing! I had no idea what to expect today - the economy is very different than two years ago, and this is a very different product than the core NewEdo rulebook. So I was trying to temper my hopes. 

You've all blown that out of the water though, and I can't thank you enough for this enthusiastic support! We funded in just over an hour, and are well on our way to the first stretch goal - at $5k, I'll add in stat blocks for every NPC in the book. Wait, you might say, that doesn't cost anything, just gimme fer free! Aha, I would say to that, stat blocks take up a lot of room in the book, and adding pages adds cost (that doesn't get passed on to you)! Plus, you know I want to use great art for these entries, so bear with me, ya? 

If this campaign goes anything like last time, you'll be hearing from me a lot over the coming days, so I'll keep this short. This time. 

At the next update I'll drop a sample from the 77 Stories in here, so stay tuned.
